The state transport commissioner Satyabrata Sahoo will be issued with a statutory notice as per orders by the Madras high court. The notice directs him to appear for it on 8th of October. This is for the petitions filed alleging the delay in implementation of mechanism for revision of auto fares in the state as per the direction of court made earlier.
When the petition was heard by the First Bench comprising Chief Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice M. Sathyanarayanan, it was said that one more year is needed for the state government to revise the fares. It was also said that the contemnors need to file an affidavit in another two weeks stating why they should be punished as per law.
