When will the vegetable prices come down?

Due to continuous rains, the prices of vegetables in Chennai have gone up. The merchants have explained that when these prices will come down.
One of the wholesale dealer in Koyambedu market while speaking about the price rice said, In the Koyambedu wholesale market, the shopkeepers cannot increase the rates of the vegetable on their own. The rates are fixed on the rates prevailing in Vijayawada, Karnataka, Hyderabad and Andhra wholesale markets. 15 tonnes of vegetables can be loaded in a lorry. To bring a lorry load from Andhra to Koyambedu an amount of Rs 1,200 inclusive of lorry rent and loading expenses is being spent. Since the production of tomatoes and onions are produced less, the rates have been high. As far as sales of vegetables are concerned, it can`t be the same every day. If the demands increase the sales will be double fold. If there is no one to buy, then the products will be stagnated. So to sell the vegetable at a normal price, the production should be more and there should be no short supply.
