Anna Arch over bridge to be opened next month

The vehicle drivers and the pedestrians experienced severe traffic congestion in the Anna Arch area over the last few years. The passengers/drivers proceeding towards Anna Nagar had to wait for hours to get the traffic signal (to pass Poonamallee High Road).
In order to ease this traffic congestion, the government decided to build a double over-bridge in the Anna Arch area.The project estimate cost was Rs. 117 Crores.
The fund was allotted after the government approval.It was also decided to extend the over-bridge up to Nelson Manickam Road.
As the Anna Arch posed some problems for the progress, a decision was taken to demolish Anna Arch. However, there was strong public protest against this. So, it was decided to build the over-bridge in an alternative route. The project was in progress.
Currently, the project has neared 90 percent completion.Officials have decided to inaugurate the over-bridge in March.
The over-bridge has been beautifully and nicely constructed without causing any damage to the Anna Arch structure.
Once the over-bridge is open to the public, both the pedestrians and the vehicle drivers can pass Poonamallee High Road quite easily & quickly.
