The activity of taking the statistics of vehicles on the Chennai-Trichy Highway commenced in order for the project to expand the Chennai-Trichy highway as a 6-lane highway.
The traffic on the Chennai-Trichy highway is growing by the day. Because of this, many accidents have been happening.
The central government has decided to convert this into a 6-lane highway.
As a 1st phase of this project, the counting of the number of vehicles passing through Chennai-Trichy highway has been entrusted to the private company Data Graph Traffic Survey.
Cameras are being installed at 3 places in the Chennai-Trichy Highway at Chintamani, Jakkampettai, and Onkur.
These cameras fitted will be kept for 1 week.Vehicles, as registered in these cameras, will be counted and a report will be submitted by the company to the central government.
Following the report, the project to convert Chennai-Trichy Highway into a 6-lane Highway.
It may be noted that similar cameras have been installed in Pudhucherry East Coast Road at the Pudhucherry overbridge.
Such expansion works are in progress throughout India.
