Gandhi Kannadasan, president, BAPASI (Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India) while speaking said: Usually this book fair will be conducted during the month of January. Due to heavy rains and floods in Chennai, the fair is being organized now. Though there were less facilities in this ground the people gave an outstanding support and made this fair a great success. There were 10 lakhs visitors during the last 13 days. This time there were more ladies and children. With the intention of making the school children come here we had given 5 lakh free passes to various schools. There was a good response for this. This time, Rs 15 Crores worth books were sold. The sales were good this year when compared to last year. The 40th Chennai Book Fair will definitely be organized during January 2017. We are under process of selecting a good venue. Some of the stalls were affected due to the recent rains. They will be compensated for their losses.
