Precautionary measures during lightning and thunder: TANGEDCO

Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) have requested its consumers not to use mixie, grinder and other appliances when there is lightning and thunder.
There should be awareness amongst the public to prevent electric accidents which occur due to south west monsoon, cyclone and floods.
During heavy rains and heavy winds people should avoid going near snapped high tension wires. This should be reported to the nearby EB office.
During the rainy season, people should avoid transformers, lamp posts, electrical distribution boxes and electrical wire posts.
When there is lightning or thunder, people should not stand in the open place. They should take refuge in concrete buildings, metallic buses, car and vans.
Avoid huts, standing under the trees or bus shelters while there is thunder and lighting. Be away from stagnated water.
If there is no shelter at the time of lightning and thunder, you should select a place where there is no electric wires, electric posts or wire fencing.
Avoid using television, mixie, grinder, computer and telephones when there is lightning and thunder. Avoid windows and doors in the open spaces.
