Prices of tomatoes come down

At a time when the prices of tomatoes are coming down, the prices of beans have gone up.
 
As on Friday, the retail shops sold tomatoes between Rs 55 and Rs 60. Beans were sold between Rs 95 and Rs 100. Due to short supply of tomatoes from Andhra and Karnataka, the prices of tomatoes were Rs 100 per kilo. Few days later it was sold between Rs 75 and Rs 80.
 
At this juncture, 1400 tonnes of tomatoes were brought to Koyambedu Wholesale Market in more than 70 Lorries. Because of this the prices of tomatoes have come down drastically in the retail shops of Koyambedu. A kg of tomatoes was sold Rs 50. In some parts of Chennai, the tomatoes were sold between Rs 55 and Rs 65.
 
At a time when the tomatoes prices are coming down, the prices of beans have gone up. The beans which were sold for Rs 75 per kilo on Thursday were sold for Rs 100 on Friday. The reason for this price rise was due to short supply.
 
Similarly, the drumsticks which were sold for Rs 75 per kilo on Thursday is now selling at Rs 140.
