As the court boycott action has been withdrawn temporarily by the advocates in Tamil Nadu, All India Bar Council has held back the temporary suspension order to be issued to 126 advocates.

Protesting against the amendments proposed for Lawyers Act Section 34(1), the advocates from the State of Tamil Nadu conducted several demonstrations from 1st June.

Meanwhile, a decision was taken by the All India Bar Council to temporarily suspend 126 advocates including the Joint Action Committee Coordinator Erode P. Thirumalairajan, Chennai High Court Advocates Association Secretary S. Arivazhagan, the President of the women advocates  Nalini, Ex-Bar Council Member Velmurugan, Thirunelveli Advocates Association President Muthramalingam. Mr.

Muthuramalingam passed away due to a heart attack on 28th July. In this scenario, a successful 3-party discussions were conducted in Delhi on 8th August between All India Bar Council, Tamil Nadu Bar Council, and Tamil Nadu Advocates Joint Action Committee. Following this, the protest was temporarily withdrawn from 16th August to 24th August. The advocates end their 70-day protest and returned to the courts yesterday (Tuesday, 16th August). All India Bar Council also held back the suspension order for 126 advocates.

The Advocates Association Joint Action Committee Coordinator Mr. P. Thirumalairajan informed that the All India Bar Council also protested against the amendment to the Advocates Law Act. They have promised to join us in meeting the Chief Justice of the High Court and insist on the need to withdraw the amendment proposal. So, we have withdrawn our protest of ignoring the High Court.

All India Bar Council has held back the suspension order against 126 advocates temporarily. We are planning to represent this issue to a committee of 7 judges on 19th August.

A decision whether to continue the protest or not will be taken during the executive Committee Meeting on 25th August. We have insisted the All India Bar Council to withdraw the actions taken on 43 Tamil Nadu advocates by temporarily suspending them.
