The Head of the SRM Group of Educational Institutions, Mr Pachamuthu was arrested for committing a fraud of Rs. 72 Crores promising seats in medical college for 102 students.
Mr Madhan, a Tamil film producer, was missing over the last few months. It seems that he had written a letter stating that he had handed over the amount collected from the students for admission for the medical course in SRM Medical college to Mr Pachamuthu and now, seats should be allotted for these students.
The students and their parents protested in front of Pachamuthu’s house expressing that they have handed over the money demanded and seats must be given in medical college. Meanwhile, producer Madhan’s mother had submitted a Habeas corpus petition to the Chennai High Court in June. The Chennai High Court conducted an enquiry and ordered to trace and find the producer Madhan.
The central Crime Branch Assistant Commissioner Radhakrishnan was appointed as the head for the search squad for Madhan.
102 complaints have been received that Madhan received the money to procure seats in medical colleges. The Chennai High Court raised the question why not enquire Pachamuthu about this.The Chief Criminal Advocate confirmed that Pachamuthu will be questioned on this.
The Police sent summons to Pachamuthu to appear for the enquiry. Mr Pachamuthu visited the Central Crime Branch office at Egmore in Chennai yesterday evening (Thursday, 25th August). The Police conducted a thorough enquiry throughout the night.
After 15 hours of enquiry, the central crime branch police informed that Pachamuthu has been arrested.
