All Farmers’ Associations and several other institutions have called for a token strike against the Tamilians being attacked in the state of Karnataka. This has met with overwhelming support from most parties.
However, police protection is being arranged in order that the public does not suffer in their day-to-day activities. So, the Government buses will run as usual with Police protection tomorrow (Friday, 16th September).
Similarly, an order has been issued to provide police protection for all government and private sector offices and institutions.
Around 1 Lakh police personnel are being deployed tomorrow for this purpose throughout the state of Tamil Nadu.
Around 15000 police personnel will be deployed in Chennai Metro.
Chennai Metro City Police Commissioner George has ordered that police protection be arranged for all city buses and bus depots.
Police security is being strengthened in trouble-prone locations in the bus routes. Patrol squads are also being arranged.
Special police protection has been ordered for all Hotels, banks, companies, transport vehicles, and ATM centres run by people from Karnataka.
