Apply for fresh ration cards online from Deepavali

The Ration Cards are issued to the Beneficiaries based on the Government rules, and is eligible only for Indian citizens. Public Distribution System department will be introducing the scheme where people can apply for ration cards through the PDS website. This scheme will be launched on Deepavali.
 
In Tamil Nadu rations cards are being issued under four categories. According the PDS department, the applicant should get a ration card within 60 days after he applies.
 
Now the PDS has decided to introduce online ration card system.  This system which is being done on trial basis will be implemented on Deepavali day. 
 
An official of Public Distribution System department said: The new ration cards cannot be issued within the stipulated time because of shortage of staff. In order to sort out this issue, the online applying scheme is being introduced. Since all the details are recorded in the hard disk of the computer, there will be no delay in the issuance of ration card. This scheme will be officially announced and will be introduced on Deepavali day.
 
How to apply
  • Applicants for new ration cards should log on to tnpds.com
  • Upload the Photo of the Family Head, select Choose file Button select the photo from the appropriate Folder in the System and click Upload Button. The Uploaded image file format should be in .png, gif & jpg and should not exceed 2 MB.
  • Enter the details of the Family Head and the Family Members, by clicking Add Member Button in the Details of the Family Members Section.
  • The details about the Family Head are to be filled first.
  • Enter the Details of Family Member (Name in English and Tamil, Date of Birth, Sex, Nationality, Relation, Profession, Monthly Income, Election ID Card Number, Aadhaar Number).
  • To upload the Enclosed Document, select Choose file Button and select the document name from the appropriate Folder in the System and click Upload Button in the Enclosed Documents Section.
  • To upload the Proof Document, select the Choose file Button in the Proof of residence Section Button and select the document name from the appropriate folder in the System and click Upload Button in the Proof of residence Section.
  • The Uploaded document format should be in .pdf, .doc & .docx and should not exceed 2 MB.
  • If there is a Gas Connection, click Gas Connection Section.
  • Acknowledge entered details, click in the Certificate Section.
  • To submit the entered values, click Register button in the Application Form.
  • After Registering the Application you will receive Reference Number.
