Beware Chennaites: 21,000 CCTV cameras are watching you

21,000 CCTV cameras have been installed across the city by police personnel and private people as per the advice of Chennai city control room deputy commissioner of police S Mani and his team.
Chennai city control room deputy commissioner of police S Mani while speaking to the media said: We have identified strategic locations and advised police personnel to install CCTV cameras in at least 27,728 locations in the city. Of these, police personnel have installed cameras in 20,995 places.
According to the Chennai City Police, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras have been effective in bringing down crime rate.
According to statistics, more than 300 cases have been solved with the help of CCTV footages in 2016
