The venue for getting smart ration card will be sent through SMS

An official from the Public Distribution System (PDS) informed that as all the family card holders have furnished their cell phone particulars, they will be sent SMS as soon as the smart cards are ready for distribution.
The distribution of smart rations cards is scheduled on 1st April throughout Tamil Nadu.
The secretary of the public distribution system for food items and groceries, Mr.Pradeep Yadav, informed that the activities for replacing the old ration card with new smart ration cards are in full swing. So far, around 50 Lakhs smart rations cards have been made.
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palanisami, will inaugurate the occasion of distribution of smart ration cards on 1st April at Korattur, Chennai.
As per the election commission rules, due to the ongoing election activities of the RK Nagar assembly constituency, the new smart ration cards could not be distributed in Chennai on 1st April.
However, leaving the Chennai District, smart ration cards will be distributed in other districts as scheduled on 1st April.
There will be no necessity for the public to stand in long queues or wait for a long time to get the smart ration card. As they have furnished their cell phone details, SMS would be sent as soon as their smart card is ready. The SMS would carry the details of the date and venue where the smart ration card would be given. Then, they can visit the place.
If no message is received, it means that the smart card is yet to be printed. As the production of the smart ration cards in is in the process, time has been extended for the availing of the current ration cards for the next 2 months.
In case any correction has to be carried out in the smart ration card, it can be done at the nearest e-service centre. Otherwise, the correction can be done through cell phone after obtaining OTP (One Time Password).
There has been a delay in the printing of smart cards as some of the card holders have not given their photographs. This has now been completed and the balance activities are being expected.
So, the public need not have any worries in getting their smart ration cards. They will certainly receive SMS as soon as it gets ready. They can visit the ration shop as per the SMS.
