The Road Safety Authority has announced that the persons driving 2-wheelers without wearing the helmet will be given a penalty as well as a 2-hour awareness training.

Accordingly, the license of the driver will be cancelled in the following offenses - High-speed driving, Crossing the red signal, Drunken driving, Using mobile phones while driving, Overloading of freight vehicles, Taking a higher number of persons in the vehicle than allowed

The drivers who caused deaths will have to undergo a 2-day freshener training conducted by the Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation on his/her own expense and produce the certificate before claiming their licenses back.

It is established that 40% of the road accidents in the last 2 years were due to driving 2-wheelers without wearing helmets.

So, it was decided in the meeting to make it compulsory for the 2-wheeler driver and the pillion rider to wear helmets while driving.

The 2-wheeler drivers caught without training will be taken to the nearest police station and will be given a 2-hours awareness training. They have to pay the penalty as well.

The vehicles operating without 3rd party insurance cover will be confiscated and will be released only after the certificate is given.
