The news is this Ford Motors would start its Global Technology and Business Centre operations from the month of March 2019. It must be taken into account that this centre has come up in the Chennai city at a cost of Rs 1300 crores. As per a senior official of Ford Motor Company, the centre is in the final stages and operations would be started before March. The information collected was state-of-art technology and international standards have been used in the construction of the centre.
It is amazing to mention that this centre would be the second largest facility of the company outside the USA. It was in the year 2016 that Ford Motors got approval from the government of TN for setting up of global technology and business centre under the ELCOT or Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited special economic zone or SEZ at Sholinganallur. Spread across 28 acres of land, this new centre would be amazing. A deadline of 2019 was set by the company to begin the operations of this centre in Chennai and the project has been completed within the stipulated time.
An official expressed his thoughts and explained how the company had approached the state government seeking land measuring 1.47 acres near the project site for developing the approach road for speedy access to the centre. He added that the issue has been pending for a long time with the Revenue department. The assurance has been given by the government on this issue and the state government is working on it. He concluded that the matter would be resolved soon.
