Huge demand for parking spaces, monthly parking rates doubled at select metro stations

In the Chennai city, the huge demand for space has now led to the increase in the monthly parking pass fee at select metro stations. The point is CMRL has doubled the monthly parking fees now.
It is important to mention that in 7 metro stations in Chennai city such as Thirumangalam, Anna Nagar East, Ashok Nagar, Guindy, Mannadi, Nanganallur Road and Meenambakkam, the motorcycles fares have increased from Rs 250 to Rs 500 now. The rates have gone up to Rs 1000 from the previous Rs 500 for the cars.
The shocking piece of information is at Meenambakkam parking space fee of Rs 500 and Rs 2000 was collected for motorcycles and cars respectively and this amount has now gone to Rs 1000 for motorcycles and Rs 3500 for cars. It is said that the increase in the parking rates in airport has been steep. Monthly parking rates in most other Chennai metro stations for motorcycles and cars are Rs 250 and Rs 500 respectively. The high demand for parking the vehicles has resulted in the increase of the parking fee rates and this was according to the officials of CMRL.
Important information collected from an official is parking lots in these metro stations get full rapidly in the morning and the late comers do not get space for their vehicles and become angry. The presence of limited space was a major factor and the space could not be provided to everyone. Hence the fees have been raised so that it could ease congestion. It was believed that the demand for the monthly passes would come down. This would make the people to buy daily parking ticket that is cheap.
It is worth mentioning that there are different kinds of daily parking tickets from Rs 10 to Rs 40. This would depend on the type of vehicle like 2 or 4-wheelers and the time the vehicle is parked at the metro station. It was mentioned by some officials that the demand has been high at airport metro station as many commuters from nearby places, park their vehicles at the airport station to go to Anna Salai.
