Activities undertaken to open the subway (MGR Central-Park station) for the public

Presently, the passengers/public that have to reach Chennai MGR Central Railway Station from the Chennai Park suburban electric station have to cross the road.
However, as a part of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, a subway with automatic elevators has been constructed linking the 2 railway stations. So, the is will facilitate the passengers/public that have to reach Chennai MGR Central Railway Station from the Chennai Park suburban electric station without any difficulties.
Still, a good part of the public takes the road to reach Chennai MGR Central Railway Station from the Chennai Park suburban electric station. This leads to traffic jam and also creates scope for some accidents to happen as well!
In this scenario, giving due consideration to the public safety, the Railway administration and Chennai Traffic Police have joined with the CMRL to expedite the completion of the subways to facilitate the public.
The director of MGR Central Railway Station K. Ganesan shared in this regard:
Though there have been several subways and overbridges constructed to facilitate the public to cross safely, it is sadly observed that most of the public/passengers/public do not use this facility – thus the number of users of these facilities remains rather too low!
So, we have been making efforts to create awareness among the public the importance of using the subways/over bridges. Presently, CMRL has opened the subway to cross from the Chennai Park to Chennai MGR central stations.
A new road has been built to reach Central suburban station to the subway from the Park Town station. Using this new road, the public/passengers can safely cross to reach their destinations. From there, another new road has been laid to reach the Park and Park suburban station. So, it is safer and easier to cross from Park Town station to the Chennai suburban Park station.
The public must now cooperate fully to avail these new facilities of the new subways and the roads adjacent in order to prevent traffic jams and also the accidents.
Further, activities are being undertaken to close the stair route from Chennai Park Town railway station to Pallavan Salai in order for better safety.
