Rajiv Gandhi Salai or OMR witnesses more than 1.5 lakhs vehicles every day and crossing the Tidel Park junction has always been an issue for the motorists. It is now said that 2 flyovers would be constructed on the road between Madhya Kailash and Tidel Park Junction. The announcement was made by chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswamy on Monday.
Information is both flyovers would allow the vehicles to take U-turns on them rather than on the road itself. Vehicles moving from Siruseri to Thiruvanmiyur junction would get benefited by the U shaped flyover that would come up between Madhya Kailash and Indira Nagar.
It must be noted that motorists turning right at Tidel Park and Indira Nagar junctions should cross those junctions, travel on OMR and use the flyover to take U-turn on the elevated level. Point is they can use Indira Nagar 2nd Avenue or ECR to reach their destinations.
To allow vehicles from Thiruvanmiyur and Madhya Kailash, the second flyover would also be in U shape but it would have an additional arm landing on the CSIR Road. The information collected is between Tidel Park and the CSIR Road junctions, 2 lane unidirectional fly over would come up.
It is revealed that the vehicles proceeding from Thiruvanmiyur to Madhya Kailash should take left turn and climb onto the flyover, then take a U turn on the elevated levels, and get down before the access road to Tidel Park. For the construction of the flyovers, an amount of Rs 110 crores has been allotted and in 18 months it would be completed.
