Chennai based Tejas Subramaniam and his parents are now on cloud nine. By winning the ‘Best Speaker in the World’ title, this Chennai based Tejas Subramaniam has captured the attention of many now.  It must be noted that WSDC or World Schools Debating Championships for 2019 was held in Bangkok. The Indian school team comprising of Tejas Subramaniam, Bhavya Shah, Manya Gupta, Sharanya Ravindran and Prithvi Arun has made many heads turn by bagging the championship.

Point is this schools debate championship till now has been dominated by the native English speaking nations lie Australia etc. Important information is Australia has won the championships many times and is followed by England. It is now believed by many that these school kids could take on topics of international relations and economics over sports and pop culture any day with amazing ease.

The school student Bhavya Shah of India was 6th best speaker in the debate and Manya Gupta was ranked 14th best. It must be noted that the members of the team shared their thoughts with the press on Friday after their victory, organised by Indian Schools Debating Society or ISDS. This is supported by Ramco group as a part of its CSIR initiative is known. In the finals, India and Canada took part and India defeated Canada proposing the motion ‘This house regrets the glorification of soldiers as their heroes’.

It is really sensational to note that India won 9-0 which meant all the 9 judges voted for India’s win. What these Indian students have done is unique because of the fact that this 9-0 win has not been achieved by any country in the last decade.

Mumbai based Rao Junior College of Science could feel happy and proud that its student Bavya Shah did superbly in the debate championships. Information collected is this Bavya Shah is the teams ‘Funny Guy’ and this trait has filled over his debate matches. By making his presence felt in the finals, Bavya Shah is a visually impaired speaker. and he is now the first visually impaired speaker to debate in the finals.

Tejas mother Vinutha Subramaniam expressed her delight about her son bagging the best speaker in the world title and said her son Tejas was already the best speaker in the family. She added that her son knew many things and it was difficult to debate with him.

Vinutha then explained about how at the age of one Tejas spoke complete sentences and how at the age of 2 he spoke a sentence in Tamil and repeated that in English to amaze everyone in the family. Coaches like Dhruva Bhat, Sayeqa Islam, Dhananjay Ashok played their part in preparing these Indian students and 140 notions were prepared by the team before the championships.
