For the last 43 years the book fair in Chennai has been attracting many is known.
The news that has emerged now is 43rd Chennai book fair would be held at YMCA grounds in Nandanam and this book fair would go on for a period of 13 days from 9th January to 21st January. This has been revealed by the Booksellers and the Publisher’s Association of South India or BAPASI.
People visiting this book fair would be surprised to see this time a 3000 sqft hall Keeladi-Eeradi. It is here the popular Thirukkural and Keeladi excavations would be available. It must be taken into account that the ancientness of civilisation has been discovered recently and it grabbed the attention.
As per Mr. R.S. Shanmugam, president BAPASI, the archaeology department in TN has agreed to exhibit replicas of artefacts excavated from Keeladi. It is now hoped that the number of people visiting this upcoming book fair would be twice when compared to the last year. This was brought out by Mr. S.K. Murugan, secretary BAPASI. For Chennai metro to provide free entry to the metro cardholders, BAPASI is in talks with CMRL.
Important feature of this book fair is the presence of around 700 stalls having more than 2 crore books under 15lakh titles. On weekdays, from 3 pm to 9 pm, this book fair would be opened for the people and n weekends this book fair would be opened from 11am to 9 pm. The visitors must pay Rs 10 as their entrance fee.
