In the containment zones in Chennai, rapid testing for Covid-19 begins

Persons belonging to the containment zones in Chennai plus sanitary workers were tested for Covid-19 on Sunday, 19th April 2020. This was carried by the GCC by using the rapid test kits.
It must be taken into account that those residents belonging to the containment zone of Mannady in Chennai were tested with the new rapid testing kits.
For the civic body’s usage, TN state government has given as many as 6000 rapid testing kits. With the help of these kits, front line workers like sanitary workers, health personnel and police personnel would be tested for Corona virus infection in the containment zones. This was confirmed by Chennai Corporation commissioner Mr. G. Prakash. He added that depending on the requirement, the government would supply rapid testing kits n a daily basis.
He later spoke about how places such as Ambattur and Manali do not have Corona virus positive cases but the civic body has been continuing its measures in these 2 zones too.
Mr. G. Prakash then highlighted about as many as 6300 samples were tested and how 50 Corona virus positive cases were identified. It must be noted that the front line workers have been tracing the contacts of persons who tested positive.
