In the next month of September, there would be few scheduled international flights from Chennai airport and this would be there after the completion of the shutdown restrictions.

For allowing limited schedules to the nearby international destinations, AAI officials and the officials of the ministry of civil aviation would be planning.

It is important to note that Chennai would also be considered as one of the airports that would be nominated as gateway airports for those flights that would be decided based on the concept of air bubble suggested by the union government. In the pre-shutdown days, there was considerable domestic passenger movement is well known.

Information collected is till now thinking not to have international flights till the domestic passenger movement increases closer to that in the pre-shutdown days.  As expected, the numbers are not increasing now as people travel by flights in emergency situations only.

It was revealed by an airport office that quarantine restrictions in major cities resulted in the less number of persons travelling by flights. The Union health ministry has released a new SOP is known. It is now brought out that the new SOP has been released with the intention to make sure that there can be more scheduled flights.
