The Greater Chennai Corporation has announced that it is fully prepared and ready with sawing equipment to cut trees fallen due to rains, motor pumps to pump off stagnant water, boats, Relief Centers, mobile medical care units, common kitchen, and Amma Canteens.
Due to the recent incessant rains, the low-lying areas in the Chennai Metro City have been inundated with the rainwater. Most of the roads are flooded with rainwater. This has hugely affected the traffic!
With the onset of the northeast monsoon seasonal rains, it has been informed by the meteorological centre that there are prospects for heavy rains in the northern districts of the State of Tamil Nadu – Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvallur.
The heavy rains which commenced during the night session yesterday in the Chennai Metro City have been pouring incessantly without any break. So, the low-lying areas are literally floating. As most roads are inundated with rainwater and the traffic has been affected quite hugely! The police do not allow small vehicles to ply on these roads. Only buses and larger vehicles are allowed.
Meanwhile, the Greater Chennai Corporation has released the numbers for the citizens affected by the incessant rain to make complaints.

Due to the rains, the public can avoid venturing out to the possible extent. The citizens can inform if they see broken electric wires/cables. In case they see fallen trees, the citizens can inform GCC immediately!
