Air India has planned to commence a nonstop flight service from Chennai to London from January next year (2021).
With this, Chennai Metro City will become the 9th Indian City to be directly connected by non-stop flight to London.
Presently, non-stop flight services to London are being operated from the Indian cities of Delhi (7 days in a week), Mumbai (4 days in a week), Cochi (3 days in a week), Ahmadabad (2 days in a week), Bengaluru (2 days in a week), Goa (2 days in a week), Kolkata (1 day in a week), and Amritsar (1 day in a week).
In this regard, the Public Relations Official of Air India shared: Since the coronavirus pandemic spread has shown signs of reduction and abating, there is a considerable increase in the number of passengers travelling by flights. A large number of people book flights to London from Delhi, Cochin, Goa, and Ahmadabad. We plan to commence non-stop flight service from Chennai to London from January!”
Due to the outbreak of the raging coronavirus pandemic spread, all international flights were banned in |India since 23rd March. It has also been announced that this ban will be until 31st December. However, special flights are being operated from India to other countries under the scheme – ‘Vande Bharath’!
