No respite for the residents of Chennai, many places under water now

The rains that have been lashing Chennai city continuously is well known. There are many residents living in low lying places in Chennai. It is now brought out that these residents seem to have no respite now. On Wednesday, the Chennai Corporation received many complaints regarding water logging.

The data from the Chennai Corporation control room pointed out that a total of 14 complaints were lodged and out of those 8 were resolved. Areas in Chennai from where complaints were lodged were Kargil Nagar, Sakthi Ganaapathy Nagar of Tondiarpet, Ganapathy Selva Nagar and Perumal Koil Street of Madhavaram, Annai Teresa Nagar in Madipakkam, Nehru Nagar in Perungudi, Chitti Babu Nagar in Pallikaranai etc. 

There was water logging in some parts of Korattur, Ayanavaram and Perambur and many complaints were received from these places also. In Pulianthope, water has gushed into the houses during the cyclone and it is yet to be drained out completely.  In the last couple of days, 11 trees have fallen down due to the rains in Chennai.

It must be noted that from 28th October to 3rd December the total number of trees that have fallen was   695 in the NE monsoon. In the SW monsoon (from 1st July to 28th October), the total number of trees that fell down was 185 in Chennai city.
