Soon, Skywalk, Green Building to be present inside Ripon Building premises in Chennai

In the future, Ripon Building premises in Chennai would have a skywalk that would be linking all the buildings. This has been suggested by the detailed project report or DPR.
The process to construct Green Building was started by the GCC. This green building would be housing an integrated command and control centre. On the rear side of the Ripon Building, a Green Building would be constructed on a vacant piece of land. This was as per an officer belonging to the corporation of Chennai. He spoke about how the building would have wastewater treatment and reuse facilities apart from the energy saving electrical instruments.
It must be noted that design of the building would ensure low energy use by natural lighting and low water consumption. It is important to note that for the sake of providing easier access to the officials of the civic body and to move between various departments functioning in the 4 buildings in the premises a skywalk would be constructed in the Green Building.
Ripon Building, Green Building, Revenue Building and Amma Maligai would be connected by the skywalk and the roof of the skywalk would have solar panels. For constructing Green Buildings, tenders have been floated and it would be built at an amount of Rs 40 crores.
The official later hinted that the building would be constructed in such a way to comply with IGBC Green New Building Platinum Rating GRIHA 5 star rating and LEED platinum rating. Information collected is that the total built up area of the building would be 4790 sq km.
