From Thirupachur to Chennai-Tirupati highway NH 205, a bypass would be constructed in the future near a private steel company. Now, for the construction of 4- lane wide bypass tenders have been called. The upcoming bypass would skip Thaneerkulam, Thozur, Sevvapet and Veppampattu etc,
Information is that a road that would have a median would be constructed at a cost of Rs 364.21 crores. According to a source from NHAI, the land acquisition for the bypass took time. As a part of the strengthening project, work including the construction of 2 bridges at Pattaraiputhur has been completed and at Narayanapuram few more days of work is still there.
By the month of August, the project work is likely to start and it would be over in another 24 months. Just a few days back the tender was floated and it would take 3 months for the process to get completed. Fact is that 3 months would be required to mobilize men and machineries etc. Information gathered is that only in 2026, widening of 2- lane Chennai- Tirupati highway would be carried out. The reason for that was the present road would get saturated only in 2026.
It was later highlighted by Mr. Sadagopan, a consumer activist that for reducing the accidents on the road it must be widened to 6-lane width. He spoke about how NHAI must not wait for the traffic volume to increase. Point to be noted is that the road is an important link between the 2 temple towns of Tirupati and Tiruvallur.
