Parandur, the site for setting up of the second airport in Chennai is once again in the news!!
Recently, it has come to light that the land owners and farmers at Parandur were unhappy regarding their lands being acquired by AAI for setting up a second airport in Chennai.
The good news is that these land owners would be paid a fair and reasonable amount for their lands. This was mentioned by none other than Mr. P. Moorthy, minister for commercial taxes and registration. It is learnt that from the office of the Joint Sub Registrar the private parties gave away the land deeds of sale with survey numbers according to private concerns on 19th of March 2020.
Under these survey numbers, the maximum guideline value per acre of land was Rs 11.39lakhs but it has increased further to Rs 65.40 lakhs. The important piece of information is that out of lands with many survey numbers of 73acres 1.17acres of land did not have any survey number.
On Sunday, 21st August 200, Mr. P. Moorthy mentioned that it was wrongly registered during the AIADMK rule in 2020 with the aim of availing high compensation for the land. Truth is that the registrar present at that time was suspended and DVAC has launched its probe against another officer who had helped the suspended registrar in the malpractice. This was carried out based on the complaint.
Mr. P. Moorthy made it clear that the media reports mentioning about high compensation that would be given to the land owners were totally wrong. He wanted the TN government to provide adequate and fair compensations for the land owners in Parandur. He added that the farmers and landowners must not get affected at any cost. The minister concluded that 1.17 acres did not have any survey number and it was wrongly registered during the regime of AIADMK government.
