Strong winds coupled with heavy rains in Chennai might have brought some relief from the scorching heat for many residents but what about the flight passengers?
On Sunday evening, as many as 5 flights from places like Dubai, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Mumbai and Lucknow were diverted to Bengaluru instead of Chennai for safe landing. It must be noted that the Emirates Airline flight from Dubai with 186 passengers, Gulf Airways flight from Bahrain with 167 passengers, Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong with 204 passengers and 5 flights from Mumbai and Lucknow were diverted to Bengaluru due to the poor weather conditions in Chennai.
Point to be noted is that flights from places such as Madurai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Trichy and Kolkata would not be able to land. These flights would make a late landing.
Likewise, flights from Chennai to places like Bahrain, Dubai, Trichy, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai would also be delayed. It is true that as many as 20 flights have been affected due to rains in Chennai and this has caused lots of issues for the passengers.
From Tuesday, heavy rains have been predicted by IMD over TN, Puducherry and some districts adjacent to Western Ghats etc.
