This piece of news would bring delight on the faces of many residents belonging to Porur now!! In the future, Porur would be getting a multi- purpose space along with a sports facility for itself after nearly 4 decades. Point to be noted is that a 16 acre plot earmarked as green space by GCC was lying unused.
It is now said that CMDA would be floating a tender this month to hire a consultant to design and build the sports complex. In another 18 months, the sports complex would be completed. It would be constructed at a cost of Rs 15crores.
For development of a sports complex at Porur, GCC had handed over a 16 acre open space reserved land to CMDA. This was according to the member secretary of CMDA Mr. Anshul Mishra.
He explained that a consultant would be hired for the designing of the project and later tenders would be called for construction and operation. The amazing piece of information is that there would be parks, walking spaces, playgrounds and sports facilities here. Soon, the consultant hired would do a study of what the area needs and develop the area as per the needs. For more than 4 decades GCC owned the land.
