Many residents in Chennai now are very eager to upgrade their mobile phone SIMs to 5G services. In this scenario, the Chennai police had issued a warning. The police department has asked the residents not to click unsolicited links or share OTPs they receive on their mobile phones for upgrading their mobiles.
It is well known that Chennai is one of eight cities in India that would be rolling out 5G services to the people. In many states now, fraudsters and cyber criminals etc have been sending messages in the name of network operators and they have been cheating many.
The cyber criminals and fraudsters would send a link and ask the user to click on that for upgrading their SIM card for getting 5G services. Fact is that once the user clicks the link then the fraudster would take control of the mobile phone and steal all the information .
It must be noted that sometimes the fraudsters might send an OTP and might pose as a staff belonging to the network operator etc. They might ask the user of the mobile phone to share some important information etc. The money belonging to the mobile phone users would be swindled by these fraudsters and cyber criminals etc.
