Protests by people against setting up of the second airport at Parandur will be going to another level in a few days

People belonging to Parandur and its neighbouring villages have been against the proposal of setting up a second airport. It is now brought out that about 2000 persons from 13 villages belonging to the district of Kancheepuram would take out a protest march to the Secretariat on 17th October.

From Monday, the state assembly session would commence and theis decision to take out a protest march has come at this point of time. It is now expected that through this protest march to the Secretariat the issues of  the Parandur residents would be brought out and it would be known to many.

It must not be forgotten that on 2nd of August CM of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin mentioned that the construction of a new greenfield airport would  take place at Parandur at an estimated cost of Rs 20000 crores.

It was mentioned by a villager that a rally would take place from Ekanapuram village to secretariat on 17th October. He added that all the panchayats of 13 villages have extended their total support. He concluded that about 1500 to 2000 villagers would be taking part in the rally.

Information is that the new airport when constructed at Parandur would have 2 runways plus others like taxiways, terminal buildings etc.
