Superb news!! Chennaites can now pay their property taxes without any fine till 15th November!!

For the property owners belonging to Chennai who haven`t paid their property taxes, here comes a surprising piece of news!!

The deadline for the property tax payment without penalty has been extended now by the Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC from 15th October to 15th November. This would be for the second half of the financial year 2022-23. For the assessment period Oct 2022 to March 2023, the Revenue dept of GCC would start collecting the penalty of 2% only from 15th of November. This was announced by GCC.

The bitter truth is that out of a total of 13lakh assessees just 5.17 lakhs only have paid the property tax amount now. For those assessees who have paid their property taxes before 15th of October 2022 the GCC has given an incentive of Rs 4.67 crores is known. By paying the property taxes within the first 15 days of the half year period, each of the property tax assessees would get an incentive of 5percent. Rs 5000 would be the maximum incentive amount.

It is important to note that the assessees have been requested to pay their property tax to the tax collectors. These collectors would issue printed receipts from their hand held devices after receiving cheque or DD etc. It is said that QR code in the property tax receipt could also be used to pay the tax. Without any transaction fee, the assessees who visit the website www.chennaicorporation,gov.in would be able to pay their property tax online.  

There Are several tax payment options available for the assessees such as bank counters, Namma Chennai app, Paytm, Bharat Bill Payment System plus at the e-seva centres in 15 GCC zones and 200 ward offices of the Chennai Corporation. Now, GCC Commissioner Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi has aklsed the residents/ traders to pay their property tax before 15th November.
