There were around 2700 road accidents in the first 10 months in the years 2021 and 2022. It was brought out by additional traffic police commissioner Mr. Kapil Kumar Saratkar that maintaining the same accident rate as last year was highly commendable on the part of the team. It is known that this year the restrictions have been removed and the roads in Chennai were opened up for the traffic.
It was mentioned by the data that Greater Chennai Traffic Police or GCTP have registered 513 fatal road accident cases till October in 2021 and registered 90 fewer cases in 2022.

These drives have proved to be highly effective in bringing down the fatalities now on the Chennai roads. It is learnt that in every road accident, the deputy commissioner for traffic would go to the spot immediately to study the cause of the accident. This was revealed by Mr. Kapil Kumar.
