A medical devices park has been proposed at Oragadam near Chennai is well known.

It is now said that MSMEs or micro, small and medium enterprises at the proposed medical devices park have been given permission now to use the state-of-art manufacturing facility at Anna University in the first 2 years. Point to be noted is that it would allow MSMEs to scale up from prototypes to clinical validation and produce initial batches.

Information collected is that the NHHID or National Hub for Healthcare Instrumentation Development at AU has limited industrial manufacturing facilities with the latest equipment like 6-axis robot for assembly, programmable CNG machine,3D printer, electronic board fabrication machines etc. State Industries Promotion Corporation of TN or SIPCOT has been developing an integrated manufacturing hub for medical devices and technological companies on 350 acres of land at Oragadam near Chennai. For technical support and expertise, it would be associated with AU.

Professor M. Sasikala, coordinator of NHHID at Anna University spoke about how Anna university would provide technical expertise to establish a centralised infrastructure for limited manufacturing, testing and calibration of devices and how Anna University would train the personnel at the hub. She added that a common infrastructure would cut the cost initially.
