With all the Pongal special train tickets sold within just 7 minutes of opening today, it is now confirmed that many people would be leaving Chennai for the Pongal festival.
It must be recalled that for the Pongal festival special trains have been announced between Tambaram - Nellai, Tambaram-Nagercoil, Kochuveli- Tambaram, Ernakulam- Chennai Central and 5 special trains in the return route. It was also mentioned that the booking of these special trains would start from 8am today.
It must be noted that the tickets of regular trains were sold out on the day of booking and people were waiting for the announcement of special train booking. Today early morning, many thronged the railway station but were disappointed that they were unable to bbo their tickets as already many have booked tickets online. Just 5 percent managed to book their tickets at the railway station.
It was explained by a person working in Chennai (whose native is Thoothukudi) that he had come to the Egmore railway station at 6:40am today morning to book his tickets. He added that the tickets were sold within 7 minutes of ticket counter opening and he was unable to get a ticket even after waiting since morning.
