The construction of SWD or storm water drains have been completed now in two important zones like Kodambakkam zone and in the Royapuram zone in Chennai. The GCC commissioner Mr. J. Radhakrishan inspected the roads in these 2 zones. The GCC commissioner instructed the officers belonging to GCC to remove the construction debris present on the newly laid roads. Penalties or fines would be collected from those who dump debris on these roads.
It is well known that after completing the construction of SWDs the Chennai Corporation has started relaying the roads. It must be recalled that on 25th May 2023 the GCC Commissioner made his presence felt in the Arya Gowda Road in the Kodambakkam zone.
He then ordered the officers to complete the construction of SWD. After the completion of storm water drains, the road here has been relaid. Yesterday, the GCC commissioner inspected the Arya Gowda Road first and then he inspected the milling of the service road near Duraiswamy subway also. Near the junction boxes, construction debris and waste have been dumped and the GC Commissioner removed these. He instructed the officers to collect fines from those persons who dump debris on the roads. He then visited Pantheon Road in the Royapuram zone and inspected the relaying work there.
