Plans to complete the Flying Train Project Section (MRTS) Velachery-St. Thomas Mount in the current Financial Year!

The General Manager of Southern Railway has informed that the completion of the Velachery-St. Thomas Mount section of the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS – Flying Train) is planned for the current Financial Year (2023-24).
The 77th Independence Day was celebrated yesterday (Tuesday, 15th August) at the Chennai Metro City Perambur Railway Grounds. On this occasion, the General Manager of Southern Railway, R. N. Singh, hoisted the National Flag and observed the Parade of the Railway Protection Force.
After the event, General Manager R. N. Singh of Southern Railway shared:
"Southern Railway plays a phenomenal role in the various achievements of Indian Railways! During the Financial Year 2022-23, the total revenue of Southern Railway was Rs. 11,000 Crores. This is higher by 51% compared to the total revenue earned during the previous Financial Year 2021-22.
In the current financial year, Southern Railway has maintained growth in the first 4 months! The total revenue earned in the first 4 months of the Financial Year 2023-24 is Rs. 3,883 Crores.
This is higher by 11% compared to the previous year for the same period.
In the Freight section, freight has increased by 22%.
Regarding revenue from passengers, Southern Railway has recorded an 80% growth!"
