In another 2 years, a sensational development that is going to take place at Anna University in Chennai

For incubating the student`s start-ups and for providing co-working spaces for big companies etc, Anna University or AU in Guindy in Chennai would have its own research park in another 2 years.
An amount of Rs 50 crores would be spent to construct the research park and the total build up area would be 1.2 lak sqft.
Vice-chancellor of AU Mr. R. Velraj explained that the design for the research park was finalised. He hinted that the park would be set up in-front of the Controller of Examinations or CoE office.
To incubate start-ups, AU has identified 5 important areas like life sciences, bio-medical instrumentation, environmental sustainability, emerging technology and UAVs etc.
It has been revealed that the ground floor of the research park would have an auditorium, a conference hall and bank ATMS etc. office space for the start-ups would be provided by the first floor and second floor. With some funds from alumni, AU is planning to expand the research park to a 7 storey structure. The vice-chancellor of AU later spoke about how they wanted to build a 2lakh sq ft Research Park.
It is sensational to note that big companies would also be invited to set up co-working spaces for conducting research on new products. Information gathered is that the research park would be set up as a part of AU Entrepreneurship, Development and Innovation Council. Space would be provided for the student clubs and activities by AU in its new student`s amenity centre at CEG campus in Guindy.
