Not everybody can become British Deputy High Commissioner while studying in a college!!

At her age when other students are busy studying, thinking about their careers and spending time with friends etc, Misha Sivaram is different. After being declared as the regional winner of British High Commissioner for a day contest, this PG student from Women`s Christian College or WCC in Chennai spent a day as British Deputy Commissioner.

It is known that 11th of October is the International Day for Girls and a competition was held to commemorate this important day. Misha Sivaram is a graduate in Literature and Communication Studies and is now pursuing a PG degree in International Studies in WCC in Chennai.

As the British Deputy High Commissioner for a day, Misha was busy with many activities yesterday. Firstly, she chaired an all staff meeting at the Deputy High Commission. Point is that she then visited a visual effects company in Chennai. She later took part in the plenary of the Low Emission Zoning Project by the British High Commission that is in association with the TN State Planning Commission.

She spoke her heart out and said that the day spent as the British Deputy high Commission was a monumental moment in her life. She added that the people she met and the places she went on that day would remain special.

It was mentioned by the British Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Oliver Ballhatchet that this contest run by UK in India was an important milestone in the India-UK joint commitment to promote gender equality
