Passengers at the Chennai airport face few issues while boarding their flights to their destinations. In the future, boarding flights would become easy and simple.
It is said that the face of the passengers would become an identity and they would be able to use face recognition technology to enter the departure terminal, pass through security checks and board flights. Point is that AAI or airport authority of India would be installing Digi Yatra for hassle free and paperless access at the checkpoints. In the new international terminal, the facility would be installed first and later at the 2 domestic terminals.
Recently, the new terminal was commissioned at the Chennai airport and is equipped to handle paperless and digital passenger processing. It has got a passenger flow management system. It is noteworthy that the passengers who have registered with Digi Yathra would be able to walk through without flashing ID cards or boarding passes etc.
Benefits of Digi Yatra registration:
- - No need for the passengers to show their ID cards at multiple checkpoints
- - Minimum human intervention
- - Less queuing time
- - Provides more security by letting only genuine passengers through the terminal.
Various other benefits of Digi Yatra are passengers would be able to get many details about the facilities, protocols, airlines timings etc. With the help of digital guidance systems, the passengers would be able to navigate through the airport easily. It is learnt that Digi Yatra is available in 13 airports and more than 91lakhs passengers have used it. It is known that Chennai airport handles 16000 to 20000 international passengers a day. As of November month in the Bengaluru airport, 16.54 passengers or 37percent who have got registered have used Digi Yatra. At the end of 2022, the system came into existence at the Bengaluru airport.
