Work has officially commenced on the construction of a new halt railway station at Kilambakkam, aimed at improving access to the suburban bus terminus for commuters in Chennai. The Tamil Nadu government, through the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), has allocated ₹20 crore for this project.
The Southern Railway has taken up the construction plan following a request and funding from the Tamil Nadu government. The station is designed to offer better last-mile connectivity for passengers traveling on long-distance, south-bound buses.
The project is expected to be completed by January next year, providing a significant boost to public transport infrastructure in the region.
