A British Airways flight from London to Chennai had to make an emergency return to London after encountering a technical glitch mid-air on Tuesday afternoon. The aircraft, carrying 328 passengers, took off as scheduled but faced an unexpected issue during the journey. Assessing the situation as potentially risky, the pilot decided to turn back and land at London Heathrow, the nearest available airport.

The flight crew promptly notified airport authorities, ensuring a safe landing back in London. Following the return, a team of aviation engineers conducted a thorough inspection and resolved the technical issue. Passengers were accommodated in airport lounges during the repair, which took approximately eight hours.

The flight eventually departed for Chennai late Tuesday night. The delay has caused a significant shift in the flight’s schedule, with its arrival in Chennai now expected around 1:00 PM today, instead of the usual 5:35 AM.

Additionally, the return flight from Chennai to London, originally scheduled to depart at 7:35 AM, has also been delayed due to the late arrival of the aircraft. The revised departure time from Chennai is now set for 3:10 PM. The delay has affected 320 passengers who were notified of the changes via SMS.

British Airways has apologized for the inconvenience caused and assured passengers of their commitment to safety and service standards.
