On 28th of February and 1st of March 2025, IITM or Indian Institute of Technology Madras would be hosting IInvenTiiv 2025, a national expo. The objective behind this expo would be to showcase cutting edge research of leading tech institutes across India.
It is worth noting that IInvenTiv 2025 would be inaugurated by Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, union education minister at the IITM campus in Chennai. There expo would witness marquee personnel from both academic and industries etc making their presence felt. Both IITM as well as the Union Education Ministry would be joining hands together. It is learnt that this forthcoming expo would feature Rand D projects from all the R and Ds from IITs, NITs, IISC and IISERs. Apart from these, projects would be present from top govt and private engineering institutes that rank within top 50 in NIRF.
On Thursday, a release from IITM mentioned that the main aim would be to increase awareness among industry of these technological breakthroughs and achieve better industry-academic collaboration.
Highlight of this year:
It is noteworthy that the highlight of this year`s expo would be the presence of a large number of exhibits from the participating institutions. In addition, there would also be good representations from various start-ups that have been initiated based on research and development from these institutions. Technologies in mature TRL (Technology Readiness Level) that are ready for commercialisation could be transferred to the industry during the event.
As per IITM Director, professor V Kamakoti it was clear that researchers could take part and get benefited through exposure to the industry. He added that the upcoming 2 day event IInvenTiv 2025 was a flagship event of the union ministry for education and in 2025 a lot more institutions would be participating exhibiting inventions and creations.
Information collected is that various thematic areas that would be covered in this 2 day event would be AI/ML Technologies, Aviation, Defence and Space, Marine Technology, Medical/Health Engineering, Rural Technology, Smart Cities and Infrastructure, Advanced Manufacturing and Circularity and Sustainability etc.
It was later brought to light by Mr. Manu Santhanam, Dean (IC & SR) at IITM that the upcoming IInvenTiv 2025 would be a landmark event and it would bring a way forward for industry- academic collaboration. It must be noted that IInvenTiv was first started in 2022 and it took place at IIT Delhi and it featured R and D`s from IITs only.
