Many passengers use metro trains to go to the airport in Chennai. The news is that the passengers have requested CMRL or Chennai Metro Rail Limited to provide additional feeder bus services from the Airport metro station and parking at the locality.
It must be noted that there are 2 mini bus services S100 acting as feeders at the airport in Chennai. This was according to a note from CMRL. Information gathered is that these feeder buses ply via Pallavaram, Chromepet, MIT, Chitlapakkam and Tambaram East to reach the metro station and from the metro station to these places also. There are 3 mini buses S69 that ply via Anakaputhur and Pammal to the station and back. Since there are many who travel by metro trains the regular passengers have asked for additional services.
Reason for switching to metro trains from suburban train services:
The non-reliability of suburban trains and sudden halting of the trains for the sake of maintenance have been cited as the reasons for the passengers switching to the metro trains. It was brought out by a regular passenger that CMRL must increase feeder services as it is more efficient than additional parking. He spoke about how if the public could rely on the feeder services then they would prefer transit service instead of their own or personal vehicles.
According to another passenger, phase 2 would be operational in a few years and it would be efficient to have two wheeler parking and feeder services. He concluded that it would spike the ridership
