To ensure smooth flow of traffic, the residents have urged CMRL and other line departments to open a meridian and set up a traffic signal opposite to Oil Mill Road in the Iyyappanthangal area. It is known to us that CMRL would begin operations from Poonamallee depot to Porur Junction by December 2025. Iyyappanthangal is an important residential locality is known.

It is worthy to note that at present the stretch near the Iyyappanthangal bus depot has heavy movement of vehicles and buses venture in and out of the bus depot throughout the day. Truth is that the median has been set up a few metres ahead of the Oil Mill Road entrance and due to that the vehicles have been forced to take the wrong route and violate traffic rules.

The call for meridian with traffic signals has become stronger as metro train operations would begin on corridor 4 between Light House and Poonamalle depot to Porur Junction.

According to a resident from Iyyappanthangal it was clear that the median present now has been causing severe inconvenience as the motorists have been forced to cross the road diagonally. The motorists coming from Poonamallee are confused by this, leading to many accidents.

The S23 bus route mini bus services have been restored recently but it is facing hardship to ply on the main road from Oil Mill Road. He mentioned that during peak hours there exists chaos resulting in accidents here. He concluded that to avoid accidents traffic signals must be opened with traffic personnel.

It was e brought out by a resident from Oil Mill Road that local body, CMRL and other departments must properly plan infrastructure design along with road laying to encourage the public to use public transit services.
