As the supply of vegetables increased in the Koyambedu wholesale market in Chennai, the vegetable prices decreased. It must be taken into account that in most cases when supply increases prices would dip but when it decreased then rates would also increase.

The vegetable rates would increase due to less supply in the months of April and May. The vegetable rates would go down further in June. During summer, the prices of vegetables would usually decrease and this was mentioned by Mr. Muthukumar, Koyambedu Vegetable Wholesale Association. The prices of vegetables like tomato and onion decide the prices of other vegetables mostly.

To attract more customers, the delivery websites have announced discounts on the vegetables.  The discounts were given for a shorter period in the flash sale. Point is that the option for COD or cash on delivery would not be applicable for huge quantities. The consumers would purchase more as the vegetable prices get reduced.

According to Mr.T. Sadagoppan, a consumer activist, consuming more vegetables would improve our immunity and would help us to stay healthy in the summer. He added that the vegetables must be preserved in a traditional manner so that it could be used later on like vathal or dried form or tomato sauce etc.
