With the agreement of accepting the proposal of enlarging the road that adjoins it near Guindy, the Madras Race Club (MRC) is ready to lose a part of its lot in entrance and parking.
On Thursday, the Chennai Corporation council is geared up to outdo a decision on acquiring nearly 2,220 sq. m. land which is just opposite to the Guindy railway station for amplifying the bus route.
After the completion of the extension work on the six meter stretch road, the civic body has agreed to rebuild the gate, parking lot, and the compound wall for MRC.
As this six meter stretch road will connect commuters with numerous mode of transport, this extension work will definitely result in the ease of traffic congestion, said an official.
Subsequent to the completion of the widening of the stretch, Corporation officials will involve themselves to take plan to extend more roads across the city. The civic body is probable to get the scaffold from a several institutions on stretches like Santhome High Road and Sardar Patel Road for civilizing its roads.
Approximately, above 40 main roads in several parts across the city will be extended by the corporation under the Transfer of Development Rights Act.
During last month, the civic body council has passed a decision for broadening the roads by purchasing private land assets.
