Over the last 1 week, the prices of all vegetable have continued to increase in Chennai.

The main reason for the price rise is attributed to the failure of monsoon leading to less yield of vegetables. So, there has been reduction in the quantity of vegetables at a higher transporting cost reaching the wholesale vegetable market at Koyambedu, Chennai.

There has been a step rise in the prices of vegetables including onion and tomato.

It is shocking to know that no vegetable can be bought below Rs. 25/- per kg!

Even items like coriander leaves, which were normally given free while purchasing the other vegetables, is now sold at Rs. 15/- to Rs. 20/-
