The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is likely to fillip the vision of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J. Jayalalitha in bringing world class roads connecting the ports in the state. ADB has taken under consideration to make a huge investment on improving the infrastructure of the state; the needed studies are currently taking place.
Rajeev Rajan, the principal secretary of highways and minor ports of Tamil Nadu said in the CII logistics infrastructure conference that the state is taking efforts to impress ADB for the extension of East Coast Economic Corridor, linking Kolkata and Vishakapatnam up to Thoothukudi through Chennai.
When this extension is done, roadways transportation between Kolkata and Thoothukudi would get much easier. To note, a feasibility study is already initiated by ADB. This study is to check the feasibility of Visakapatnam – Chennai corridor. This is expected to get completed by October.
